The Grace of God

Titus 2:11-15  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,  (12)  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  (13)  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  (14)  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  (15)  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

INTRODUCTION:           Among men grace means the favor and blessing that one person bestows upon another person.  We simplify God’s grace by saying it is unmerited favor, undeserved favor.

I.            GOD’S GRACE BRINGS SALVATION

(Romans 3:23)  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

A.              We Come Short In That We Sin
1.               God does not sin
a.           We do
2.               God never acts against His glory and nature.
a.           We do
                             3.           God dwells in the glory of His perfection.
                             4.           We come short, so short

(Romans 3:10)  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

              B.           We Fall Short
                             1.           We do not know when God will call us home
a.           We must work now

(Hebrews 9:27-28)  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
                        2.           God lives forever
                                           a.           We live eternally
                                           b.           With our Lord in HEaven

(Romans 6:23)  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

II.           GOD’S GRACE TEACHES US HOW TO LIVE

(Psalms 10:4)  The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

              A.           God’s Grace Is Jesus Christ
                             1.           Jesus teaches us to deny
                                           a.           Ungodliness
i.                Anything not like God
ii.               Anything not Holy
iii.             Anything not Righteous
iv.             Anything not Pure
b.           Worldly lusts
                                                          i.            Is not fit for heaven

Hebrews 10:22  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

2.           Live Righteously
1.           Doing Right
a.               Treating others, as we would want to be treated.

(James 4:17)  Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

III.         GOD’S GRACE TEACHES US TO LOOK FOR THE RETURN OF JESUS
              A.           The Return Of Christ Will Be A Glorious Union
1.               We shall see Christ for the first time
2.               United With Christ for ever

(1 Thessalonians 4:17)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

            B.           The Return Of Christ Will Be A Glorious Reunion

(1 Thessalonians 4:17-18)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1.               The dead in Christ shall arise
2.               We who live will be reunited with our loved ones who have gone

(1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

C.           The Return Of Christ Will Be A Glorious Transformation Of Our Body
1.               New incorruptible bodies
2.               New eternal bodies

(Philippians 3:20-21)  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:  21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

            D.           The Return Of Christ Will Be A Glorious Reward
                             1.           To all who love His appearing.

(2 Timothy 4:8)  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

E.              The Return Of Christ Will Mean An Eternity of Ruling and Reigning
1.               We shall receive
a.           Position
b.           Responsibility

(Revelation 22:12)  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

F.              The Return Of Christ Will Mean A Glorious Dwelling Place.
1.           That mansion on the hill

(John 14:2)  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

IV.         THE GRACE OF GOD IS TO BE PROCLAIMED
              A.           To Speak Forth The Grace Of God.

(Titus 2:15)  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

B.           To Exhort People In The Grace Of God.

(Hebrews 10:25)  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

            C.           We Are To Rebuke People In The Grace Of God.

(Luke 17:3)  Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Conclusion:         Remember the most important thing is that the Grace of God is Jesus Christ.
Consequently, we need to understand what God’s Grace has done for us.
We didn’t deserve Jesus.  We are unworthy of God’s Grace we haven’t done anything to deserve His salvation.
